
Broadcaster - Responsible for broadcasting and producing all 22 home games at Old Mountain Field, along with traveling to all 22 road games. Attendance at all road games is mandatory, and transportation to and from will be provided with the team. Broadcasters are also required to write a post-game article to be published on the team’s website (OceanStateWaves.com). Those granted this role bring a strong knowledge of baseball, and an understanding of advanced baseball statistics, situational baseball, pitch types, and the updated rules of collegiate baseball. Broadcasters provide both play-by-play and color commentary at each game, and work alongside each opponent's broadcaster, and other aspiring professionals within the organization. In this role, broadcasters are expected to remain well-informed on each team’s top players, their background and overall league standings. Sideline Reporter - The sideline reporter is responsible for hosting the Mews Tavern “What’s On Tap” pre-game show, and the Gansett Wraps “That’s a Wrap” postgame show to be distributed across various Waves’ media channels. Attendance is required for all Waves home games, and encouraged for away games at Mystic and Newport (<30 minutes, transportation provided). However, you would be welcomed to travel to any away games, but it is not required. A strong understanding of baseball, as well as performing informed research on Waves players and their stats/performances are required of this role. This internship is open to all college students, prior on-camera experience is encouraged but not required. Photographer/Videographer - Attendance to all home games is required, and road games encouraged within this role. The Photography and Videography interns will take pictures of the team before, during and after games to be distributed amongst the Waves social media platforms, as well as be used by the graphic designer to create social media graphics. Interns must provide their own camera and lenses, accompanied by a keen understanding of their own equipment. A strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, as well as Canva and Capcut are required. Timely editing and content turnaround is expected to provide in-game updates via our social media platforms. You are expected to be proficient in Instagram, X, Tik Tok, and other social media platforms to create and execute content throughout the season. Graphic Designer - The graphic designer role is a year-round position, a crucial one for digital media initiatives for the organization. The designer must be proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, (Photoshop and InDesign), and have a strong creative mind. Designer is expected to create designs for player spotlights, introductions, gameday, countdown posts, player of the game, Waves events, and many more. Designs are expected to be uniform, and look visually appealing on all social media platforms.
Public Address Announcer - The PA Announcer will be required to attend all Waves home games. Duties include announcing both starting lineups, required sponsorship ad reads (both team and league), each hitter for every at-bat, pitching, and defensive changes as they happen, as well as the school they represent. Announcements must be made in accordance to the game day schedule, and be delivered with enthusiasm and passion for the organization and athletes. Basic baseball knowledge is required, along with relevant experience. Announcer may also be expected to play walk-up songs and celebratory sounds.
Data Analytics - The data analytics staff are required to attend all home games, and are encouraged to attend road games as well, with transportation provided by the team. The analytics staff work in player tracking databases such as Synergy and Trackman. A strong understanding of the Microsoft Office and baseball related statistics are required, as well as relevant experience in a similar field. Advanced staff members are expected to provide analysis and scouting reports on other teams players, starting pitchers, and overall successes/shortcomings as a unit, and provide communication with the Waves staff and players ahead of their next matchup. Analytics staff will also assist with official scoring of the game, ensuring correct entry of player stats through the league-wide database.
Fan Experience - Fan experience interns work alongside the front office in the offseason to develop experience-based initiatives to implement within the game day production to improve the overall delivery and quality of experience to fans and community partners. In season, fan experience interns assist in executing gameday presentation initiatives, interacting closely with fans to ensure their satisfaction and experience with our organization, as well as taking suggestions on overall executional improvements. Staff also work with fans throughout the games to increase fan integration, deliver on sponsorship initiatives, and serve as a liaison between players, staff and fans.
Marketing - Marketing interns work alongside staff, players, local community groups, sponsors and stakeholders to develop creative marketing initiatives through gameday presentation, social/digital media brand recognition, and communicate with other intern groups to ensure execution of promised marketing initiatives. Marketing interns work with sponsors and donors to ensure satisfaction, and help develop sponsorship activation initiatives, and execute game day presentation requirements.
Fundraising/Ticketing - Interns in the fundraising and ticketing departments work alongside the front office and stakeholders to compose creative strategies to generate revenue from external funding to properly support the organization’s initiatives. This position is very collaborative, and is constantly generating ideas based on feedback, creative thinking strategies, and business development initiatives. These interns will help develop sponsorship packages and improve the organization’s outreach initiatives to grow awareness and improve game attendance and brand recognition.
Gameday Operations - Gameday Ops interns assist players, coaching staff and front office to ensure set-up and break-down pre/post game are executed in a timely manner, as well as provide care and assistance to other areas within the organization to ensure proper execution of a game day production. This supporting role is what makes the organization run smoothly and develops key leadership strategies in individuals. Attendance is required at all home games, and interns working in the operations department get excellent first-hand experience on what a typical professional sporting atmosphere looks like, and what it takes to execute organizational initiatives. Interns serve as a liaison between staff, players, fans, and coaches to ensure a smooth execution.
